TI Analog System Lab Kit (ASLK)

The Analog System Lab Kit Pro exposes students to the fascinating world of analog and mixed-signal processing. The kit comes with a board comprised of ten basic groups of analog components, as well as with a manual that features 14 step-by-step experiments to help students learn analog with ease in a fun and engaging way. The course can be adapted for either undergraduate or postgraduate curriculum. As part of the lab course, students will build analog systems using analog ICs and will study their macro models, characteristics and limitations. Soon students will be able to realize almost any analog system!

Cost: $99.00 (USD)

What's covered?

Part I: Learning the basics

Students are exposed to the operation of the basic building blocks of analog systems. Using the general purpose operational amplifiers and the precision analog multiplier, the student will build gain stages, buffers, instrumentation amplifiers and voltage regulators. These experiments bring out several important issues, such as measurement of gain-bandwidth product, slew-rate, and saturation limits of operational amplifiers.

Part II: Building analog systems

Students are focused on learning about analog systems. Integrators and differentiators are introduced, which are essential for implementing filters that can band-limit a signal prior to the sampling process to avoid aliasing errors.

14 step-by-step lab exercises

  1. Negative feedback amplifiers
  2. Instrumentation amplifier
  3. Regenerative feedback system, astable and monostable multivibrator
  4. Integrators and differentiator circuits

To supplement the Analog System Lab Kit Pro, or to teach analog design in any course, we recommend A Baker’s Dozen: Real Analog Solutions for Digital Designers by Bonnie Baker. Bonnie wrote her book to help digital engineers who need a few basic analog tools in their toolbox. It is useful in providing an analog foundation to handle daily engineering problems, and will serve as a valuable reference to the nuts-and-bolts of system analog design in a digital world.
